About this product

Bellaré's Lip Plumper comes in a slim 3 ml click pen with a clear applicator tip. You press the base to bring the product up to the tip, then smooth it over your lips. The maker says lips look fuller within minutes and suggests leaving it on for 5 to 10 minutes. The maker's chart shows a glossy finish.

Per the maker's chart, Extreme and Extreme Red get their tingle from chili extract and ginger, while Normal is based on mint. The maker's ingredient list also names a warming ingredient (vanillyl butyl ether), plus hyaluronic acid, squalane and coconut oil, which the maker says keep lips soft and moisturised. The maker says a light to strong burning feeling at the start is normal, so start with a very small amount.

Choose your strength. On the maker's comparison chart, Normal (silver pen) is the mildest, Extreme (black pen) is the strongest, and Extreme Red (red pen) is strong and leaves a red shine. The maker says the effect lasts a few hours and varies from person to person.

How to use

Take off the cap. Before first use, hold the pen tip down and press the base until the product appears at the tip (the maker says this can take 20 to 30 presses). Apply a very small amount to your lips. Leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, as the maker suggests. The maker says a light to strong burning feeling at the start is normal. For a stronger look you can add more layers, but wait until your lips have got used to the first layer before you add another. If it burns too much, wipe it off with a damp cloth.

  • Contains warming ingredients. The maker's ingredient list names chili (capsicum) extract, ginger extract and vanillyl butyl ether. The maker describes the Normal version as mint-based. A tingling or burning feeling is expected and can be strong, especially with Extreme and Extreme Red.
  • Do not apply to irritated or injured lips (the maker's advice). Also avoid cracked or broken skin.
  • Use only a very small amount the first time, and try it on a small area first.
  • If the burning feels too strong, wipe the product off with a damp cloth (the maker's advice).
  • Stop using it if redness, swelling, irritation or burning continues after removal. Seek medical advice if it does not settle.
  • Do not use it if you know you react to chili (capsicum), ginger, mint or fragrance.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not touch your eyes after applying, and wash your hands if product gets on them. If it gets into the eyes, rinse well with water.
  • Contains fragrance (parfum), per the maker's ingredient list.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
